A new biological approach to orthopedic surgery and sports medicine

Back Cover

This book outlines the knowledge that exists up until now on the application of Plasma Rich in Growth Factors (PRGF®-Endoret®) in the field of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. It describes the most relevant findings that BTI’s work group, led by doctors Eduardo Anitua and Mikel Sánchez, has made over the last 15 years in this field, from the most basic aspects of platelet biology, to the most recent clinical advances in the musculoskeletal system. In short, the development of a dynamic and translational research, which goes from the laboratory to the clinic, returning again to the laboratory. This synergy has been and is still key in the potential of PRGF®-Endoret® technology: one of the biggest advances in translational regenerative medicine.

The authors have tried to show the most basic, but also the most relevant aspects of what is currently known about the application of growth factors in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. To do this, the chapters follow a logical and coherent sequence so that the reader can understand the application of PRGF®-Endoret® in any field of Medicine, and in that of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine in particular, with a multidisciplinary approach.
